about

hi!

I’m Teresa, a researcher and writer from São Paulo, Brazil.

I’m interested in critical methodologies, knowledge from the margins, technology, power, and feminist praxis.

Currently, I am a PhD student in the department of Politics at the New School for Social Research and a Zolberg Melamid Fellow at the Zolberg Institute on Migration and Mobility. I am also a research fellow at the Surveillance Resistance Lab, researching border externalization, surveillance, migration, and technology.

Before that, I worked at The Engine Room, where I conducted research on biometrics in the humanitarian sector, digital IDs and civil society advocacy, among other issues.

Once upon a time, as a journalist, I wrote about refugees in Jordan, the peace accords in Colombia, displacement, human rights, politics, and gender justice.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of São Paulo and a master’s in International Affairs from Columbia University.
